please pray for my dog -- if it be God's Will, i ask that he be healed by the only 1 that can -- if it is not His Will, i ask that He Comfort my dog & that i will be there with him when it's time

he was literally an answer to prayer & has been a Blessing to me ever since

my hope is 1 day we're reunited in heaven where he can play forever

I love my dog too, Paco, and I will pray.

Hey, Paco.

So sorry to hear of your dog's illness.

Definitely will pray as you have asked. It's so hard when you don't know how things will turn out, but I ask that God will grant you the wisdom to know what to do and when to do what's best for him, and comfort both you and him throughout.

What's your dog's name?

I'll pray for you and for your dog.

I want to pass your request on to my daughter, who works as a vet tech. I'll bet she'll pray. Is there anything I should tell her?

he was abandoned by previous owners @ 4 -- found him & nursed him back to health -- he's 13 now but still feisty, prior to this illness -- he's an aussie/norwich mix terrior

have thought about seeing a faith healer (if 1's in the area) & even a kidney transplant -- if i knew i'd see him in heaven maybe it'd be a bit easier

thank you for the prayers as this is killing me

For sure continuing to pray...

Rescues always make the best companions.

It's a bit tenuous, but I believe it's possible to cobble together a biblical case for the future of our beloved animal companions.

There's a great quote from Mark Twain:

Quote:
If there are no dogs in heaven, then I want to go where they went.

OK, it may not be great theology, but it's humor with a deep insight.

i forget the verse that says if you've lost everything save God, you have all you need -- maybe it's just a quote -- my brain is mush

anyway, i would like to cobble...

God will be enough -- i'm not thinking He won't be -- am merely praying He'll Say..."but wait, there's more!" -- & with a BIG smile He Lifts His Arms & a throng of everyone's beloved pets come bursting forth to greet their former owners

right now, if He Did that, i truly think i would love Him even more than i do for Saving a wretch like

i'm probably forgetting a zillion pts & details as it's been a whirlwind but let me share for those kind enough to write & pray

let me say 1st that i needed posts to distract me from this excruciating reality & prayers (silent or written here) to keep me going for my best friend -- others may not need posts -- am saddened more didn't write words of encouragement as i felt very hopeless during this last yr & esp. these last weeks -- but we all get distracted by other events, work, familes, & even the world -- still, the ease with which we race into doctrinal debates or political chatter should be balanced by the time we spend helping those asking for help, should it not? -- i am guilty of this too as i need to display more compassion & give more of my time to those in need

Mon -- I debated Thursday or Fri would be the day & settled on Fri once i realized it was Good Friday -- not sure if Jesus was Crucified then or not but the tie-in comforted me -- also took my Gift of God to the crematorium so he & i could see what was to happen

Tues -- ordered urn & finalized scheduling -- what a gut wrenching thing to have to do

the rest of the week has been spent like the rest of these weeks & months -- administering meds, herbals, fluids, etc -- taking him on walks & loving on him -- got some special moments on film/video too

today is his final full day

tomorrow morning we'll say goodbye in his home -- then my other best friend will help me take him to his final resting place still looking like the beautiful bundle of joy he is before he's changed

i will NEED PRAYER for these last few hours! -- i'd give this dog 1 of my kidneys if i could -- he is my heart -- if i didn't promise him i'd do this i don't know what i'd do

may Jesus Welcome him tomorrow into His Arms

Hi, Paco.

So sorry you've had to make that inevitable decision, but I can feel in your words the strength that God is giving you to get through it.

Making those arrangements is kind of surreal. I remember when they asked me what I wanted on my kitty's memorial stone and I just lost it. It all swirls around in your mind, not making sense.

My prayers are with you as you approach your beloved's departure in the hope of one day being reunited.

This is heartbreaking, Paco. Even when we know it's the right decision for them, choosing to let our beloved friends go is so hard. Keep leaning on your best Best Friend and He will sustain you. His grace will uphold you. Remember the good times. Remain thankful for God's good gift to you and He will bring good out of even this hour of sorrow. He has done it for me, and I know He will do it for you. May our Lord fill you with His grace and peace.

Cale

Paco,

I'll be praying for you. I have had to make the same decision some time ago.

All the best.

thank you all

it has been a whirlwind of RACING from 1 task to another trying to stay ahead of time -- last nite my special cuddle time was interrupted because the urn company i used sent it ground vs. expedited delivery -- it was only because a few UPS workers went out of their way to get the delivery to me (with moments to spare) that i made it to the crematorium on time -- but i was robbed of time with my beloved angel last nite & today & that's what HURT

he was brave & determined to the end but his body was failing so am glad he no longer feels bad -- i just miss him more than words can express

i was somewhat prepared for the goodbye @ our house as he rested in my arms & would no longer hurt -- plus, i needed to relax so he'd be calm -- what i was not ready for was seeing him placed in the crematorium chamber -- he didn't need me to remain calm then & i wasn't -- i gave him a zillion kisses & hugs before i let my beloved Gift of God go

i walked the perimeter of the place with his leash, harness, & collar then decided i would rest in the car & dream of him -- thankfully i did -- i woke up after a fashion & while i was sitting there a big breeze rushed past -- it was then that i knew my angel had left

i have never been so touched by a pet -- we bonded instantly

i have never been in so much anguish in my life -- but i'd do it all over again if i could have 1 more moment with my precious angel

kidney disease SUX

if you have a pet, read the labels of the food you give them -- the major brands are crap -- research it online -- seek out kidney support meds/herbals -- older pets need to watch their phosphorus/protein intake so research diets -- i've learned a ton this last yr but still feel i'm ignorant on the subject -- am guessing the average pet owner doesn't really understand this stuff as we rely on the experts -- yet, vets seem to only care about vaccines -- but there's so much more to dog health -- i only wish i'd been more pro-active way back when
