Hello. I know this may cause some laughter, but - I am looking for fair and balanced online articles dealing with the Rapture doctrine - How long it's been around, the pros and cons of it, and etceteras.

Thanks in advance.

are you asking for an article that explains the various rapture positions & details the stengths/weaknesses of each?

any article that opines the doctrine began with Darby should be taken with a grain of salt...

The timing of the "rapture" is the main issue. A secondary issue would be the subjects of the rapture.

Those who hold to an a-millenial or post-millenial position do not greatly diffentiate the rapture from the second coming as a whole. Pre-millenialists differ on whether the rapture occurs at the beginning, middle, toward the end, or at the conclusion of the great tribulation.

There are several articles here at bible.org which discuss the issue. Threre have also been books which disuss the options. There are also commentaries from each perspective which I could reccomend. Several schools/seminaries have articles posted which support one position or another. I wil try to post some links at a later time.

Paco - No, I know the pre, mid, and post positions. I'm looking for more of a history of it; why are some (I believe it's the Reformed folks) saying it's a false teaching, and etceteras.

John - Thank you. I will look forward to the links.
