Hi everyone,

I'm Hall Harris (go by Hall).
I'm Project Director and Managing Editor for the NET Bible.
My "real" job is Professor of NT Studies, Dallas Theological Seminary, Dallas, TX, where I've taught Greek, exegesis, and NT Studies for nearly 30 years. I also head the Faculty Technology Committee at DTS, which interfaces between faculty and the IT department.
I have pretty extensive computer experience and can read/write raw html (I set up the first official DTS website back around 1994).
I understand basic programming and DB concepts but don't write code.
I regularly use all the major Bible study software (Logos, BibleWorks, Accordance for Mac, Gramcord for Win) and teach master's and doctoral level courses in the use of them. I beta tested for Accordance back about 10 years ago.
My passion is (1) training seminary students in the use of biblical languages for ministry; (2) making the NET Bible the most widely used English translation on the planet by putting a billion copies (digital or print) in the hands of Christians everywhere within the next 10-15 years. I see the GoBible version of NET Bible as an important part of this process because it has the ability to go "viral" in terms of spreading the word about NET Bible!
Contacting me:
Although I know how to use IM I don't do it often because I find it a significant annoyance to my work. Same for Skype: I have an account but I don't use it much. Best way to reach me is by email sent through the Bible.org site, which forwards direct to me.

My name is Charles and I currently work as a volunteer with several online theological educational institutions as well as teaching sunday school and volunteering with a camp for the physically and mentally challenged. As a job, I work as a technical instructor with an emphasis on cell phones. I have antiquated programming skills but am upgrading those in PHP as I work with an online learning environment. I need to learn Java so I can get the J2ME working to my benfit on the phone. One of those ideas is to get the Bible on the phone. That way, when I travel, it will always be at my fingertips.

I am a missionary kid from Colombia, South America and thus I am completely BiLingual.

I have a passion to help train those who want to learn more about the Lord.

I work with many environments (Linux, Solaris, Mac OSX, and Windows) as I want to provide training with a low cost especially those in countries which can not afford the expensive software.

I will have some time each week, but it will vary depending on each week.

Hi, I'm Mark Moe.

I wasn't sure if I should reply to this or not, but thought you may be interetsed. I'm not currently in any official ministry though we are all to be disciples. I help out with A/V stuff at my church (messiah-lutheran.org) and sometimes teach classes (my favorite topic is Creation and love answersingenesis.org).

I work for Medtronic as an Electrical Engineer but also have a Computer Science degree. I do a lot of scripting at work (Perl, TCL, JavaScript and little bit here and there of C, C++, Java, PHP, etc.).

I can probabably only spare a few hours each week on this right now. I kind of stumbled into this by just wanting a version of the Bible for my phone. But, I love the idea of the NET Bible's ministry first license and fully support getting it in the hands of more people.

Of course all credit goes to God, then you guys at bible.org and Jolon for Go Bible. I will contact Jolon about some of the questions to see what else Go Bible can offer.

Can Jolon have access to this BB?

Thanks,

- Mark

Hi,
I'm Sam, studying Spatial Information Services, second year Diploma. Medium level computer literacy, the idea of having a bible on my cell phone appealed to me, as I use it for everything else.

Looking forward to testing and suggesting.

I may have signed up on the forum before but I couldn't find my username and I have so many email accounts I couldn't possibly remember which one I used.

Name is Brian, ministry wise I work with AWANA at our local church and help in the ministry wherever I can. I am interested in teaching all ages of people about Christ but I like to see kids learning and studying about Christ.

I wear a lot of hats at my network consulting company (from network engineer to sales guy). I have been in the business of designing and servicing networks and internet technologies for close to 20 years.

I departed from my CTO position at a regional ISP in 2004 (that I built from the ground up) to focus on my consulting company. My consulting company focuses on non-profit organizations such as churches since I have a passion to bring churches and other Christian organizations up to speed in the technology world.

Hi,
I'm Jae Stutzman currently a SW Engineer and leader in our church. I'm excited about having a modern version of the Bible that can be used without fear of using too many verses! I am especially excited abou the electronic versions being developed as I spend most of my time studying on the computer. Being the open source guy that I am, I can't stand the idea of needing windows just to sudy the bible on my computer.

G'Day All,

My name is Steve Adams. I'm currently studying a Bachelor of Theology at Bible College of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia. I'm now 30 years old. Before coming to Bible College, I spent four years as program director of a year-round Christian Youth Camp outside of Melbourne.

My intended goal is towards a position as a youth minister focusing on bringing a love for God and his word back into youth. Currently very busy with my study (especially Greek) so won't have too much time to contribute to forum. I wanted to test the cell phone version of the NET Bible for myself and as a medium that would appeal to the people that I minister to.

... so that's me. For those who said they're at Dallas Theological seminary I can at least say I've visited there. I spent a weekend in Dallas in 2001 while I was studying at His Hill Bible School in Comfort Texas.

hi

My Name is David Accadia and I'm from Melbourne Australia. I'm currently a senior youth leader at my local church. I've got a degree in electronic engineering and computer science. However these day's I mainly work on embedded software using C or C++. I've recently change jobs and had to give my old phone and PDA back. I was really excited to find that you could get the bible on a phone. The main reason I carried a PDA was because of the bible software. At the moment I can probably only spend about an hour a week with forum stuff but I'm happy to help out where I can

David

Greetings. My name is Chris and I came here looking for software to use on my new cell phone. I normally carry a PDA with me that has Pocket eSword loaded on it. In fact, I picked the PDA because of the software. However, since the cell phone is company owned, I can't be that picky about it. ;)

I'm involved in a number of things that God has called me to. I've been serving for several years now in sharing the Bible with men in the local jail and one of the local prisons. I've also been teaching Sunday School to children from the 4th to 6th grade. It is marvelous to see how they are growing in their faith. Recently, I've started sharing the message on Wednesday evenings to men in our church.

What is my passion? To know Jesus and to share that good news with others. Also, to love and serve my family.

My technical skills aren't bad, but aren't that good. I know a lot about the PC environment, but little on cell phone technology, or programming. As far as time for forum activities, it would be best if I didn't. I'm a moderator on one of the largest forums for Burgman scooters already, and I'm pretty full on the schedule as you can see.

Thanks for having this forum here, and may God bless each of you!

Chris
