...and you never will. If it was written by Christians, they were either masking their beliefs, or they were very, very theologically unorthodox.

From Wikipedia, this show is supposed to have been by Christian writers

First, Wickipedia is not a good source perhaps a starting place but not source.

Second, "christian basis" or "christian writers" is often used as a ploy to bring acceptance and viewers. Unfortunately "nominal" Christians fall for it every time. Perhaps because of a lack of theological depth in the preaching of our churches.

Last, I often wonder why our culture is so taken with angels. Hebrews 1:5

I used to watch this show with my mom when I was a kid. I remember I really loved the show.

I remember an episode where Monica made a statement that angels do not know God's plan of salvation. I've watched about 5 episodes and don't recall any truly redemptive qualities.

I quite enjoyed it for light entertainment - but the theology was a long way from Christian, imo. Angels are almost a popular craze, so the appeal was and still is wide, but what was presented was not a biblical idea of who an angel is.
But it was feel-good, not harmful, relaxing ... just don't base any of your theology on it.

I think it is okay to watch Touched by an Angel if you don't have anything better to do. I remember there was an episode "Into the Light" which I thought was rather biblical.

The series finale was quite obviously about Jesus Christ, in my opinion.

Also, I remember Monica one time saying something like "don't believe in angels, believe in God." The show also clearly represented angels as creations of God, not dead people, etc.

It obviously had its flaws, but it was really an excellent show, in my opinion.

I loved this show! I always turned it on to hear Della Reese sing the opening song. Then I turned if off again. Maybe I just liked the song. :confused3:

I know it was not as blatantly "Christian" as many people might have liked, but I do believe that Martha Williamson, the executive producer, is a true Christian. I also have found a lot of theology on LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE to be questionable, but still I do not think that Christians seemed to be as upset about that as about TBAA. Of course, TBAA was, in a sense, a show specifically about God, so maybe it is more important that the theology be more specifically Christ-centered.

I remember when I first heard about TBAA and I was concerned what it would be like. I was very pleasantly surprised by this show and the issues it tackled. For example, it had the courage to air an episode about post-abortion stress syndrome. I do not recall any other show dealing with the abortion issue in this way. It also was not afraid to call out people for their sin, another thing which I really respected.

It's been ages since I last watched it, but I thought it was an entertaining, harmless programme. Way better than most of the other rubbish that gets broadcast. I hope that nobody relies on television dramas for their doctrinal meat.

I agree. It was a good show and anything that can be watched with a family with a positive message is good.

I don't know if this is true or not, but I heard somewhere (can't remember) that that was the actual reason the show was canceled, that the final episode was not meant to be the final episode. Can anyone confirm or refute this? I'm curious. My Google search just indicates that Madalyn Murray O'Hair was trying to get the airwaves wiped clean of references to God.

I am fairly sure that the final episode was really meant to be the final episode. It was done as a 2-hour series finale, involving lots of previous guest stars as the characters they played in previous episodes, resolving things, etc. so it seemed to definitely be written as the finale. And I believe that, at the time, it was also promoted as the series finale. It may have even been on two nights in a row....can't remember now if it was shown as a 2-hour special or how it was done....
