I've now made four trips to Zuccotti Park plus one accidental march attendance and a stop off at Occupy Philadelphia. (By the way, in NYC the protesters are on private property, not public. I know it's hard to keep it all straight.) If you would visit your local occupation and talk to the protesters I think you would be able to stop all your speculation and make up your own mind instead of listening to whatever your preferred news outlet is telling you.

this is prudent, of course -- but, generally speaking, who has that kinda free time? -- i've watched coverage on Fox & MSNBC but is that enough to make an informed choice, dunno -- but it's all the time i am willing/able to devote to this issue

btw -- how did you do in NYC's race (or was it Phila? both?!)?

You make a good point. However, if my preferred news outlets had not carried the story, my interest would never have been piqued. And, regardless of what the aims of the OWS movement might be, the methods they have chosen seem calculated to produce as much media coverage as possible.

I live far from a major city. It would involve an overnight stay for me to meet an occupier face to face. I'm not going to do that. I rely on media of one sort or another to let me know what's going on in the wider world.

I cannot say anything about being at the east coast "occupy" but the ones on the west coast can be down right scary. Many involved are high on drugs that are being used openly in the "camp" and the police, under orders, do nothing.

If I hop on a plane & fly from Kansas to NYC I think I will have enough touristy places to visit.

Saw on Stossel where Bryant Park was managed by a private company.

Let's just say running through New York City sometimes means unexpected detours and inadvertent event attendance. I actually ran through the middle of another protest around the same time--I think it was Korean protesters mad at Japan. (The "death to Japan" chants and Korean flags led me to that conclusion.) There are always protests here about something. You gotta roll with it.

My problem is the sound bites I hear are from communists. Not sure protesting private companies was the best place to start.

Although a group did march from NYC to the White House. Haven't seen any coverage of them though.

I would protest Barney Frank & Freddi Mae & Frannie.

It seems that this is the symptom of the "everyone gets a trophy" social policy. Some young people join the military & use the GI bill when their service is over.

Also the lender will be slave to the borrower should be their motto.

Yep. Along with my union brothers and sisters. OWS protesters have joined us in our union rallies, as well. We are fully behind the movement. And it's only just begun.

14 million unemployed in the U.S. That's a big army.
