I've been broken-heart from about 6 months and I've been asking God to bring my Girl back. Last month I fasted for 3 days and at the end of the fasting God talked to me through Jeremiah 31:16.

“Restrain your voice from weeping
and your eyes from tears,
for your work will be rewarded,”
declares the Lord.
“They will return from the land of the enemy."

and Jeremiah 31:22

"How long will you wander,
unfaithful Daughter Israel?
The Lord will create a new thing on earth—
the woman will return to the man.”

Can anyone please tell me what actually God tried to talk to me from those two verses??

While I know what it means to have a broken heart, might I challenge you to not seek what your will is, but His? --Luke 22:42 He may have a better plan that you or I do not understand.

There are many verses in scripture that can be used to our own advantage. If you'll please keep in mind that I'm not pointing a finger, this general statement holds true to many that read scripture. She may be the best person in the world for you or she may not. There's no way for me to know, but what I do know is if you put God's desires for you first, then His plan will work how He desires it to.

raviki, could I say, gently, that God may not have been speaking to you in the way you seem to think, through two isolated verses, taken out of their context? I know God does sometimes speak to us in that way, but not always, indeed perhaps not often even.

Nonetheless, the overall message seems to be to stop weeping and focusing on tears, get on with life and the work he has given you to do, and let God deal with the outcome - that was His message to His people back then, and it is His message to any of us today who weep or grieve or mourn a loss. In other words, I think the verses are encouraging you to stop weeping and to trust God in this matter, as in all things. You will find peace and contentment if you put your trust in Him to get you through this hard time. I would be very cautious about reading anything more specific, or more personal, into these verses.

Being heart broken is hard. I do pray that God will comfort you, and give you eyes to see how to serve Him with joy in the days ahead. And I trust that He knows your future and will be with you.

If you find that the sad times are too hard, or going on too long ... do talk to someone - friends, pastor (doctor or counsellor if it is too bad).
