I have from time to time the opportunity to tell muslims about the Love of Jesus for them.
I tell them that Jesus loves them and died for them.
I mostly get stock responses to this ie. Jesus didn't die, wasn't Gods Son etc.
I was wondering if anyone has experience in witnessing to muslims and has any advice to offer me.
Jeff

I hope this isn't a taboo subject.
I have never witnessed to muslims - but I've had some try to witness to me.
Here is what their god promises (this varies from sect to sect) - if you are a good muslim you enter their heaven as a virgin. You are given 72 virgins (male or female), fountains of wine and piles of food that never spoils.
Their idea of paradise is endless sex, drinking, and gluttony.

If that is their idea of an afterlife, then their god is definitely not the one I worship.
Sounds more like Hugh Hefner.
I am not being facetious - that is definitely not the God of Zion. It sounds like Ishtar or Bacchus.
I can't think of a nice way to say that.

God bless you all.

HI Jeff,
First of all, I must tell you I have never witnessed to Muslims. As Anthony said above, the man does get 72 virgins, but also the one who gains paradise lives in gardens underneath which rivers flow. I would first recommend that you start with the nature of God, rather than Jesus because most of the stories of biblical prophets including Jesus have been altered in some way.
Once the nature of God has been established, teach your friend the story of Mary as it appears biblically. Your friend should receive this readily because Mary is reveered in Islam. Then emphasize Christ's atonement, an the need for a savior, and especially convince your Muslim friend that because God is lord of the universe, he can beget anything at a mere thought. I say this because in the Quraan, it says that "God has no begotten neither does he beget." The wording may not be exact, as it is from memory. This should set the foundation for witnessing about the sacrifice of Jesus.

I hope this may help you, sorry I cannot do more,
If I am misguided in any way, then feel free to correct me,
Child of Grace

First of all, you should talk with some Muslims. Find out what they really think of you. Of course, you won't get a straight answer from any that you work with or know personally. But when they're hiding behind a screen name, then they're free to let it fly. Second of all, most muslims - in my experience - become irrate when you don't by into their beliefs. They'll try to convince you - so be careful when trying to witness to them.

God bless,
stacie

Think through what the gospel has to say to other monotheists - Jews for example - and what the gospel means in your own life because the way that you live is a more eloquent testimony for [or against] the gospel than words spoken will ever be.

Cheers

I have actually had the unbelievable blessing of sharing the gospel to a couple of young Muslim men in Jerusalem last June. Having studied world religions, I knew a little of the Quran and Muslim beliefs, and was able to get through to them a little I think. At the very least I think I got them to think.

First off, they told me that I could not have been a Christian because I was "so happy." They told me the "Christians always walk around like their brother has just died." Obviously this is a problem. Mistakenly or not, they had the opinion that Christians were mean. I let them know that true Christians are joyful because they have God's love. I said there are a lot of people who call themselves followers of Jesus who don't do what He says. True Christians do what Jesus said. When I came into their shop, they were making fun of an elderly man in a shop across the alley. I challenged them, "You accuse Christians of being mean, but you dis-respect your elder? What did the prophet say about respecting elders?" ( one of the hadiths says, “He isn’t of us who isn’t kind to our youngsters, and shows no respect to our elders...”).

Second, they said we believe in many gods. I adamantly told them we believe in One God. I asked if Allah was all-powerful. They said, "Of course!" I said, then do you think there is something that God cannot do? They said, "NO!" I said, so God cannot be One and Three? That shut down the polytheism bit.

Third, I said, "Muhammed said Issa (Arabic for Jesus)was a prophet, right?" They said, "Yes." I said, "Does a prophet lie?" They said no. I said, "The prophet Issa said He is the way to life, that He was the way to God. He said we have to believe in Him to have life with God. He said He would be put to death and rise again from the dead. Did He lie?" They did not answer.

I asked them to please read the prophet's Issa's words, and I thanked them for listening to me. Unfotunately they did not have the hat I wanted.

They told me, "You are not like any Christian we have ever met." I told them I was sorry for those who were disobeying Issa's words, and I thanked them for their questions.
