I know many Christians that have tattoos - I feel anyone that would condem you for having a tattoo is not acting biblically. Althought the body is your temple thing may have some significance. By the way, my brother-in-law has a bunch of tattoos and I feel he's a "good christian" whatever that means.

Although I wouldn't want my children to get one - mostly because they're too young to understand it's permanent.

There are actually lots of people on this forum who have tattoos. Not me. Since we are not under the law, we are not restricted in this.

Most of the ones I can think of are probably too long.

Not too be argumentative but how do you know "Many people on this blog have tattoos"?

Also why does that matter?

Hi Todd, this was Cobra's post from 2007 that I started to reply to, but didn't.

(There's also a more recent thread on the same subject.)

hi there...

The Bible says, Do you not know that you do not own yourself, but that you were bought at a price. That price is the crucifixion of Christ. Our bodies are viewed as a temple of Christ. This is also why other things are wrong, such as fornication, adultery, obesity, bulemia, alcoholism, smoking, and more; they all harm our bodies. Tattoos do not always harm a person's body, but they have been tied to some contractions of HIV and other diseases, a person can get ink poisoning from them, and over the years, they just look plain old ugly....

That is your opinion that they "Look plain ugly" obviously some people do not think that way if everybody did they wouldn;t get tattos. Look I have no tattoos but I do not condemn those that do. Christ accepts all. You could say by your argument that walking outside or shaking hands is a sin also because there's a "possibility" that you could get a virus and therefore harm your body.

It's not what I would do but how does that not glorify God? Body is your temple ok sure and the Old Testament maybe a set of "rules" to follow. Although too many people in my opinion get the idea that Christ and God constrain us to rules instead of Free US! Christ is not the Great restrictor Christ sets us FREE! Free of Sin, Free of Guilt, the Abba Father, etc etc. When people start implementing all these rules on every follower then they are playing God and I’m pretty sure that the only true God does not take that lightly! Just my thoughts hope I do not offend anyone but I’m tired of listening to people that claim to follow Christ and then Act like they are God themselves. The whole plank in my eye vs splinter in yours etc should ring loud to some! I ask that Christians in general begin accepting people just like Christ accepts me, a disgusting sinner, and loves me despite my flaws! I pray this but only after I ask for forgiveness of my sins.

Just to add to the old thread I want to get a tatoo of Isaiah 33:22 on my right shoulder blade in paleo-Hebrew script.

The one thing about getting it in something other than english is people will stop you and ask you about it. :) This opens the door for new friendships and an opportunity to talk about Christ :)
