Hello all! I am new here. I'd like to ask for prayer in our situation...

Over a year ago, I lost my job. Then my husband got very ill and had to go out on medical retirement/disability. During that time, we had to deal with many other things including the final illnesses and deaths of my mother and my aunt (who was like my 2nd mother). In March, I got offered a wonderful opportunity for a job 2400 miles away from our hometown. Since the job was in the place we had wanted to move to, and had been praying for the opportunity to reveal itself, we decided that I would take the job. We thought it was an answer to prayer.

I've been here now for 2 months. My husband is still back in our hometown trying to sell our house. The separation is taking a toll on both of us. I'm ready to quit my job and just drive back home even though I know that our financial prospects there are dim. I miss him more than words can say and unfortunately, flying back and forth just isn't feasable.

Please pray that our house sells quickly and my husband is able to get out here soon!

Thank You
DS

i will pray for God's Will in your situation & for you both to receive His Wisdom/Guidance on the matter -- patience is a Fruit of the Spirit that we all seem to lack

We did consider it and discarded it. Our budget will not stretch far enough to do what would be needed to rent it out and we would not get enough in rent to cover the expenses. Also, I just want to be rid of the house and get whatever cash we can get out of it.

DS, how long have you had your house for sale? Two months is a short time in today's market and if the economy is particularly bad in the area you're coming from, that's a very short time. It helps to have a good realtor who will not only do a good job of personally promoting your property, but who will also advise you on how to make your house more salable. Sometimes repairs need to be made. The landscaping may need help. A fresh coat of paint can help a lot. It also helps to "stage" your house in the way that model homes are. Usually that means getting rid of some furniture (which makes the rooms appear bigger) and a lot of the things that personalize your home. Most people have a hard time visualizing a house as "theirs" when it is personalized with other people's pictures and trophies and such. A good realtor can walk through your house and tell you what changes need to be made in order to sell it more quickly.

When my father was trying to sell his home, he went through several realtors over a period of years and never even got an offer. Finally, the family found a good realtor and followed his advice to make some cosmetic changes. When that was done, the house was emptied and the realtor staged it (sparsely) with rented furniture. Within the first month after the house was staged, the family started getting offers on it.

The house has been on the market since 6/1. It's been painted inside and out, landscaping is in great shape because I set out all the spring/summer flowers before I left, it's been scrubbed, staged, de-cluttered, garage and attic cleaned out and stuff that we want to keep is in storage.

My husband busted his backside to get the house in wonderful shape. We've had some interest but no contract yet.

Sounds like you're doing all the right things, DS. I will join you in asking God to provide a buyer for your house. While you wait, be encouraged that God cares for you and will provide your needs.

Philippians 4:6-7 6 Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Context (NET)

Prayer is the key. Also, keeping a christian attitude is important. I had to tell myself to smile no matter what happens. I know GOD will take care of me no matter what. I am not afraid anymore. Stay in the word. When you speak with your husband talk about how good GOD is and how he is blessing you for everything that you have. I say thank you Lord for the sandwich that I just ate. Thank you Lord for letting it be possible for me to have a job. Thank you Lord for letting me have a place to rest.n That has helped me when I do not expect anything. I just let GOD do what he is going to do and just follow humbly behind him. You are blessed and connect with others and show how good GOD is to you. Thank YOU GOD!
