I think that men like Jonathan Edwards (the first Great Awakening) and George Whitefield (the second Great Awakening), Finney, the Wesley's, Moody, Billy Sunday, Mordecai Ham, Billy Graham were men used by God with a specific gift of evangelization. These men were used by God in a time when our nation may have been more sensitive to the Christian message. However, in later years the shift of some has been away from Christianity to other belief systems or unbelief such as the "nones" who have been in the news - the "nones" are those who have no religions affiliation.

For example, when I was attending a church in Springfield, MO the senior pastor said that back in the 1960's if he said he was speaking on a certain topic on Sunday night he would back out the house, or fill the auditorium. However, since the late 1970's he noticed fewer and fewer persons coming out on a Sunday night no matter what topic he announced.

I believe we are seeing a time when people are being turned from the truth of Christianity to follow falsehood and heresy and Eastern religion.

I tend to agree

Receiving the Holy Spirit: Acts 19:2 We should know not only what we believe but also to whom we believe.

It is interesting to note in Paul's question to the Ephesian disciples of John what he did not ask them
He didn't say, "Have you believed"?

Faith is the cornerstone of the building of godliness---and if it is not laid well---there can be no sense of security to the people of the building.

Can a person be saved and yet know none of the details of his conversion?

Paul asked, "Have ye received the Holy Goast since ye believed?"
Maybe a lot of people need to ask that question
God bless

quick response as the leaves beckon...

i mentioned this in a recent thread but apparently not this 1 -- Apollos taught the folks of Acts 19 only what he knew which was John's Baptism -- hence, those Paul bumped into were NOT Saved as Jesus wasn't in the mix

so faith in JESUS is the key & He is our Foundation, not "faith" as you proposed (1 Cor. 3:9-11)
