DB -- this stmt of your makes no sense to me:
DailyBread wrote:
Forty two consecutive months is three and a half years but not necessarily one thousand two hundred and sixty days

DailyBread wrote:
Speculating about a change in the Earth's orbit is of no help here either since the contemporaries of the authors of sacred scripture - the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Persians, Indians, Chinese and so forth, all had 365.25 day years and all had extra days, weeks, or months at the end of their year, whenever they were needed, to make up for the fractions.
i agree with you that speculation isn't always useful -- however, your contention that the other civilizations all had 365.25-day years is wrong according to some threads i examined, 1 of which was shared -- i do not have time to delve into their validity until the new year as finals are the priority

DailyBread wrote:
it is not clear if the forty two months is the same period as the one thousand two hundred and sixty days or if it precedes it or follows it
it may not be to you, that's fine -- it is to many others so realize that so you know where they are coming from

DailyBread wrote:
so much happens after chapter eleven in Revelation
indeed -- a study of Rev & Daniel & eschatology is beyond the scope of this thread but something profitable for all

RTCrudgi wrote:
There is nothing here about figuring out what day he'll come or even how close we are. As a matter of fact that is self defeating according to my understanding of Scripture and what Christ says about his own return.
i will clarify this stmt as i do not believe it is clear & so not true -- the day/time of rapture is unknown -- the day of the 2nd Coming is known: 1260 days after the Matt. 24:15 happens

IMO a large waste of money. Could've been spent reaching others for Christ.
perhaps -- but we have no idea if God Called him to do this, right? -- he spent $ studying the Word -- i wouldn't exactly call that a waste -- perhaps it wasn't the most optimal usage but we know not God's Will for this man...

Bert -- i have no time over the next 2 months to study this cat, Faulstich -- is there a book/web site that you'd recommend as the 1-stop-shop for this guy? -- i may find his conclusions nonsense but who knows -- anyway, i'd like to throw his stuff on my lengthy list of things to examine...

Bert/DB -- i know from past threads i disagree with DB on eschatology -- not sure about Bert -- anyway, what was the pt of this thread??? -- seems to me we've prolly drifted off course -- there will be no concensus with the current discussion -- so may be time to focus in on the original topic

I've tried to be consistent in my message about eschatology. The core truth in eschatology is that Christ is Himself the Eschaton; He is the goal towards which all creation is heading, towards which it groped in darkness until He came in the flesh to reveal the gospel. The heart of the gospel is that Christ is in us and we are in Him. He is the hope of glory, our "last thing" our last thought, His is the face we long to see and His is the Life we yearn to live. This is the message of the gospel. The "last seasonal sign of the end times" is not an event but a person; it is Jesus Himself.

Cheers

DB -- i agree with most of what you just wrote & think quibbling about the disagreement (i.e., the last 2 sentences) isn't necessary -- so will offer this instead
Titus 2:11-13 11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people. 12 It trains us to reject godless ways and worldly desires and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 as we wait for the happy fulfillment of our hope in the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. Hello Paco,
You asked who Eugene Faulstich is, and how to get his data. Out of the goodness of my heart, I will tell you what I consider his greatest achievement was.
The Bible has many believers - - - but - - - has had problems lining up Christian Chronology with Secular Chronology (such as with Egyptian and Babalonian inscriptions. Problem was always - - One set of dates was right, and one was wrong.
What Eugene found out, was - - the Bible was right, and it does line up with others dates - - if one ignores Acts 400 years pronouncement. Then - - what Eugene found was - - even the 400 year pronouncement is correct, if you understand that Abraham and Isaac both, spent a considerable amount of time - - i.e. YEARS outside of Israel to the south. When you add THOSE years, to the Jacob - to Joshua gap, then you DO come up with the 400 years.
So all of Israel, was contained within both Abraham and Issac when these Patriarchs were out of Israel.
The problem Biblical Chronology had had, was it tried to send Jacob into Egypt early, then brought Joshua back into Israel late - - in order to force this gap to be 400 years all by itself. So because they did this, it made a mess when they tried to reconcile Bible dates with other countries dates.
So - - Eugene, you could say, monkeyed with a LOT of folks beliefs, by changing Chronology - - so he ticked off a lot of folks. The Lutheran Leaders he was in contact with - - had printed books that showed the Bible was in error and could not be reconciled. (at least so far as dates go). Eugene tried to get them to retract this, and to believe Adam lived only 6000 years ago! They were not pleased with Gene, because they had gone with Darwin. The Baptist folks that followed Sir Andersons dates - no longer could fit their dates into the new Faulstich dates, so THEY were not pleased with Gene. In effect - - Gene confirmed the Bible, showing that everything fit, and the dates were correct - but - - laughably, all denominations were quite upset with him. Other, cult like organizations had based their Prophets statements on wrong dates- so this rather upset them also. Fun and Religious games abound.

but that is the data you need. You might wish to order his reconciled dates - in case you really want and or need them, but - - the simple answer is - - the Bible is correct, so - - there is no need to project a 360 day solar year. And Dailybread? Yes, the Bible literally is correct. The Folks that wrote it, somehow, someway (perhaps they were guided by Gd?: even got all their dates right.. Amazing.

IMHO the view being proported by Bert is fraught with strawman arguments.

As far as I know no one here has argued against the truth written in the Word of God. However, how we interpret that truth must be in line with the intent of the origional author.

Could you provide the title of these books?

I'm not sure what you are saying here but I've been a Baptist awhile and not heard of this man. Do you have any proof outside of this person's own statements which proves these accusations?

Blessings,
Randy

Hello Randy,
As you say you are a Baptist you might wish to contact - - one of the pastors of - - - - oh - - - perhaps the Old Gospel Tabernacle in Omaha Nebraska? They Changed their name a few years ago to Community Christian Church - - but they are still pretty Baptist - and they are out on west 72nd street now. They invited Gene to come in, and they quietly distributed some of his stuff, and they may chat with you about it? Otherwise, as simple google search, will get you to a web-page or more. Or - - you could look at the top of this page - - to the right I believe - - and type Eugenes name in there - - and glance at some other chats about him. I have probably posted at least 5 times in the past 10 years or so, stuff on him.
Generally speaking though - - - Gene had some GOOD stuff, but - - he was a bit like a small fish - - swimming as hard as he could - - pushing on bow of the Lutheran Ship called the Titanic - - trying to get it to change it's path. Did not have much of an effect on them. Unfortunately - - some of his stuff, ended up being a bit out there on Prophecy, and not Chronology so much - - so - - he was a bit easy to ignore. (I did not care for that stuff of his - - - but his actual Chronology rocked.
