This is an open question but, I am mostly interested in what oouther sufferers have to say.

I am bipolarpsychotic/S.A.D./ADHD and I am having a hard time of it. I have had to ramp up on my meds just to maintain self-control. I have no real intrest in anything let alone studying scriptures. Tell me have you found any encouragment from sccripture? I sure could use some right now.

Hello Ummm.

I like that name. Is good.

I ... do not know, but - - I rather suspect that virtually everyone is off a bit. .. Others have said I am - - - ha. Here on the board!

And yes. I can say there is comfort in the scriptures. Psalms is good. Proverbs is good. The Gospels are good.

Virtually all tell - - in one way of another, of a Jesus, or a Messiah - - or a COMING time, when there will be a righteous judge, who will make all things right. The Lion will no longer hunt the lamb, but they will lie down together in peace. The Rich will quit charging interest. The man will own his own Fruit tree, that will feed him.

What we have now of course - - is - - - - truly insane. Only the Greedy seem to win - - and mostly by lying. Children and wives and fathers and brothers steal and lie about each other - - quite often. And this is Christians also - - quite often.

Titus says - - we are to live our lives - - looking for the coming of the Blessed Hope.

In my opinion - - I really do not know HOW anyone can NOT find peace, and hope, in the Bible.

Bert

ummm_me,

I cannot say I have ever suffered with anything like you are describing. But I can say there are encouragements in the Scriptures to those who have entrusted themselves to the Savior of souls. Let me point you to some.

If you know Christ by faith, you have the promise that your have been justified by faith and therefore, whereas before you a child of wrath (Ephesians 2:3), now you have peace with God (Romans 5:1).

If you know Him by faith, every thought God has toward you is for your good, not for evil. (Romans 8:31-34). All things that happen to you, if you know Him and love Him, have been designed by God for your good, not just allowed by God to happen according to chance (Romans 8:28)

If you know Him by faith, you have redemption through His blood, and forgiveness for all trespasses (Ephesians 1:7). You have obtained an inheritance, not just any inheritance, such as Bill Gates' son might one day receive, but an infinite inheritance that comes from being the co-heir with Christ of an infinite treasury of riches (Ephesians 1:18-19).

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of additional promises in Scripture that come to those who believe. I want to encourage you to grab hold of those promises through absorbing God's Word, that as your suffering continues, or even intensifies, your faith may not be shaken.

Quote:
Romans 5
2b and we exult in hope of the glory of God. 3And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; 4and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; 5and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
To exult is to rejoice. Why can we rejoice? Because:
Quote:
Romans 8
16The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, 17and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him. 18For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

Maybe others can add additional words of encouragement. Take heart. Your sufferings are not unique and they do not go unnoticed by the Savior who right now is interceding on your behalf (Romans 8:34).

I will pray for you tonight.

Regards.

Hi Ummm!

I know that Jesus loves me and, as one of his children, he cares about me when I am suffering, wether that be physical or mental distress. I don't care much about your label, only that you are suffering now.

Sometimes when I can't get into reading the bible I listen to sermons on the internet.
Positive stuff, like the sermon on the mount, our Lord's promises to us, etc.. Jesus suffered greatly for us! He knows your pain. He healed the sick and raised the dead!

I pray that you feel better soon. May God bless you!

Pax

A couple of small suggestions for a big problem:

1. Get some scripture in song type cd/s and play them. The music helps get the words into your brain. Learn a few, well chosen bible verses, and let your mind recite them over and over - helps keep the dark thoughts away. Listen to good, bible based Christian music often - every day.

2. Try listening to the bible being read aloud. There are cds, or it's here as audio version of the NET bible. Sometimes reading is just too hard. Try going to sleep listening to scripture - or waking up to it. I am sure our Lord does not mind if we drift off peacefully to sleep in His presence.

3. Repeating the simple prayer; "Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me," can help - even to the point of such simple praying becoming like breathing. Or saying the Lord's Prayer, or other prayer that you can memorise. Read prayers aloud from Prayer Books. Move on to your own prayer when you can.

Those who have never suffered mental illness may not understand the need for such tools - tools that may even seem odd to some. But such conditions can be absolutely awful. I add my prayers for you.

Fine line between enlightenment and insanity. Sometimes it's a crazy world, sometimes it's hard to tell. Other people's thoughts make good checks and balances, and that requires communication. There is a purpose in God's design of your life.
Do you believe that Jesus is God? What is your passion, or, burden? What compells you, or "drives" you? What is in your heart, that needs to make influence in the world around you?

"The sovereign Lord is my source of strength. He removes the obstacles in my way. He gives me the agility of a deer; he enables me to negotiate the rugged terrain." Psalms 18, Habakkuk 3

Well, isn't it simply stunning, what our Lord can do in the span of a few short hours!
About this time yesterday I was suffering :( , now it's all blue skies  . The words and advice as well as the prayers have brought me through the tempest.

I thought of just letting this thread fade into the past but, perhaps, maybe I( not I but the Lord) might be able to encourage another as has been done for me. We shall see.

That's great - thank you, Lord.

Now, please use the good time to pray for strength and to be kept safe, and to get some resources on hand, if bad times come around again. I hope you also have some prayer support in your local fellowship - some people you can trust, who can be there for you if things get hard. I would suggest a few - as it can be hard on your support network too, as they will suffer with you if things are not so good.

May this be an extended time of stability for you, and may you know the peace of God and be aware of his love surrounding you each moment of the day.

Amen, thank you, Lord.

But, a war is not settled in one battle. We must use the lulls and good times between the battles to re-equip and resupply for the next battle. So, I agree with Avid in thanking God for the encouragement these words have provided. But we must always stay in the battle. And we can count on victory because it is not in our hands, but the Lord's.

Regards.

Avid, jimd, if the two of you only could (though I pray not) understand the absolute gravity of the words you have spoken. Yes I feel good(now), so yes I am regrouping as well as preparing for my next battle. Although I might have all of the faithful praying for me( and how do I need and covit thoughs prayers). The battle I wage is one that only a few are called to. I can not explain it accept to others who like me have a mental illness what the nature of this battle is, only that it takes one deeper into the enimies lines. That is to say that, one of the devils playgrounds is the mind of the mentaly ill. Today is a day of healing, today the Lord alowed me to touch and encourage one like me. OH i wish to say much but it is time for me to go for now. But, "I'LL BE BACK". :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
