Beginning 01-April-2010 a new rule will apply to becoming a member of the Private Discussion Area of the Men's Discussion area.

In order to become a member of the private area, it will no longer be an automatic approval for inclusion in this group.

Things that will exclude you from membership:

less than 25 posts
member for less than 60 days
a user report (complaint)

Further, if you are contemplating joining and your just trolling, don't bother.
If you are looking to share your "years of extensive study" in the form of a sermonette, don't bother.
If you plan on "hit and run", don't bother.

The private area of the men's discussion is meant as an area where men can discuss the more sensitive issues of being a man. It's not meant for casual browsing for "interesting" posts.

There are some who are currently active posters who have less than 25 posts, and are relatively new to the forums as of the date of this announcement. You will be "grandfathered" in as a result of becoming members in the private discussion area.

There are some listed on the membership list who have been members for years and still have fewer than 25 posts, it's time for a real "spring cleaning." I'll be contacting those people on the list who have fewer than 25 posts and more than 60 days membership to the forums to see if they still wish to be members with a link referring them to this announcement, they'll then have 60 days to get more than 25 posts or lose there membership to this group.

I hope all of you find this decision a bit more...encouraging to talk about the real issues...

Is it just me, or has this forum had no posts so far this year?
I think I'm in the right section, but the very low traffic has me wondering.

there is a lag for sure...It looks like I may have to come up with some conversation starters...

something safe, but not too safe...to see if the members who are there will open up...

Seriously, Mike, I think the main problem is that most men don't know it's there.

If it's invisible... I was here for some time before I knew it existed. If the open topics showed "new post in private men's board" perhaps that would help?

I think Serendipity might be on to something I was a member for a while before it caught my eye and than I joined, And we men we are wired different from woman we don't talk alot unless there is someting thats pressing just my thoughts what do you think..

I have passed by "The Garage," a few times but never made any entries but I would like to join in on some discussion. I usually respond to people and I do not hit and run but, rather I get back with people and keep the discussion going. I have a number of posts and when I answer with an opinion I stress it is only my opinion. I do try to answer with quotes from prominent Christian authors and scholars when applicable.

I'm afraid Serendipity's quote is over my head. I must have by-passed that bit of culture, by never seeing the film, I suppose.

I always feel strange in men's groups, so I don't go to them usually. Maybe I am not a man's man . I always find my 'women problems' better talked out with women.
