We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. Romans 6:4
As we celebrate the arrival of spring and the coming of Easter, we begin enjoying the beauty of newly sprouted blossoms on the Dogwoods and Redbud trees as well as many other flowering plants. No artist who has ever used a paintbrush has ever been able to capture the magnificence as the One who created the true nature’s canvas. Then there’s also the sweet fragrance of fresh wild flowers floating in the gentle spring breeze. And who doesn’t cherish the thought of strolling in the warm sun and savoring the refreshing aroma of the honeysuckle? Just thinking of it makes me smile. Of course we can’t overlook the fact that the beauty of spring is impossible without the nuisance of pollen; that yellowy powder that gets in, on and around everything. It gives us the watery eyes, running noses and sneezing. Pollen is the sign of the newness of spring. We must suffer through the annoying discomfort as we appreciate the beauty God has created. But there is hope. We always can know that God will send a refreshing spring rain to cleanse the air and wash away all the pollen. I guess that’s why God planned Easter to take place in the early spring. It’s the season of rebirth; the time of year when life new life begins. Just as spring brings rejuvenated life after a cold, dead winter, the events that occurred on Easter morning gives us the gift of new life. We are able to be reborn with newness only God can give. We are able to live in the beauty and splendor of spring in spite of the “pollen” in the world that sometimes makes life unpleasant. We must stay strong in faith when the times get difficult and wait for God as He sends a refreshing rain to flush away the “pollen” in our lives. After all the yellowness of sin is gone, we will to celebrate the eternal spring only God can give.
“He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior” Titus 3:5-6
Praise God and Give Him the Glory!
