to my knowledge we have 2 products in the Kindle store
1-a volunteer has the NETBible text (no notes) on the Kindle.. however, He quit before the quality got acceptable.see reviews. i think the link is http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0010XIA8K
2- Dr. Greg Herrick's How to Study the Bible.
i believe both are 99 cents

While Amazon is a natural place to consider for Kindle users, may I also point out the value in going outside Amazon? http://www.feedbooks.com is a wonderful source and potential repository for public domain and properly released documents, as is http://www.gutenberg.org. Both are free repositories, making the NETBible available without even the nominal charge of $.99.

i would love to go outside amazon... I would probably host it our our servers and make links to it from other places like you suggest. including our bible downloads page at http://www.bible.org/downloads So lets make a free version... let me know if u need an ftp server to support the work of this development.

brad sent me an email that says
Quote:
I started working through it. I am developing an xslt file to parse
the exported sql into html that the kindle likes. I'm currently
working on Genesis as a test portion. What I would really like to see
is a better way to navigate to the verse you would like to view. One
of the clumsy things about reading the bible on the kindle is the way
you have to navigate to a book and verse. Since the kindle does not
search meta data, we can't embed the chapter and verse in the tags.
I'm thinking the best way will be to use a hyper index that lists
every chapter and verse in the bible so you are essentially two clicks
away from finding the verse you want.

All,

I've started expirementing with Philemon, mostly because it's a short book but has a very representative set of notes. The main problem, as I see it, is that the Kindle uses a single extended ASCII character set, which doesn't allow it to render some of the Greek characters (for example, note 9 after 1:4; the Greek characters are totally messed up (I wish there were a way to include screen shots so you could see)). This begins to limit some of the options. I haven't given up yet. There may be a way to include the characters using HTML. Haven't tried that yet. And I have a couple of other ideas to try as I have the time.

Brian

I've created an xslt file that processes the books from the xml output from mysql into basic html with the chapter and verse inserted in spans. It looks pretty nice. So far I just built out the Genesis book. I'm going to expand it to the Pentateuch and post it for people to give it a try. Finally getting closer.

I've left the notes out. Not sure if that is what people wanted but it is where I am at right now.
