I don't like extremes of temperature. I don't like extremes among preachers. People maybe think I'm extreme. But never mind about me

farouk greetings,
Yes, we can do much more than this to control our body from sinning because the spirit of God is within us.

I'm not necessarily sure it's a sin always. It might be in many cases, in excess.

But it's great to quit, anyway.

For all our brothers and sisters,
If you are hook in habit of smoking, I respectfully advice you to quit smoking for it will not benefit you and your pocket.
Really smoking is very hazardous to health as what I have experience within 42 years I ended with COPD chronic obstuctive pulmonary desease that almost take my life.
Thank God , he gave another chance to quit smoking after I broke down with heart attack twice in 2006 and 2007.
At present I'm addicted in body fitness and reading Holy Bible.

Regards.

What you say sounds very good advice, Sir.

And God bless your Bible reading.

Bless all of you who have been able to quit. I am still fighting the nasty habit. I smoke roughly a pack and a half per day. Last night I decided to quit. Haven't been quite successful as of yet (this time) - I have had approximately four or five today.

Back when I first came to the Lord at 18 (Sept. 2001) I quit cold-turkey with no problem. Was smoke free for about three years, until I turned 21. Started going out to have a beer (Or that was the plan. Turned into many beers each time I went) and eventually picked up the habbit again. Then back in '07 I quit again (cold-turkey) until about a year ago. I spent about three days trying to talk myself out of it before I smoked a cigarette (I knew if I smoked just one, I would dive back into the old 1-2 packs per day habit).

Basically what I did the previous two times I quit was make sure I smoked all the cigs I had before I went to bed. That way I wouldn't have any to light up the next morning (usually smoke one as soon as I wake up before coffee) and would remember the commitment I made the night before and just made the decision to not go buy anymore. During those times I lived with smokers, so I would get up every morning and empty the ash-trays (isn't that such a nasty word? lol), so I wouldn't be tempted to smoke the butts.

It is such a nasty habit and will make poor people who smoke even that much poorer.
