I publish to my three blogs often enough...does that count???

Actually, I have a chapter in a book on the theology of N. T. Wright coming out soon (InterVarsity Press) in an edited multi-authored volume (I discuss his view of justification and how it offers a more robust Trinitarian perspective on the subject). I also have a book that I'm writing (it will be based mostly on my thesis on the "Theological Meaning and Significance of Yom in Genesis 1") that should be published later 2012/early 2013. The publisher for that one has not been finalized yet.

Otherwise I just write for general public periodicals (e.g., newspapers, etc.) and nothing too technical or deep. I know there are a number of other Bible.org folks on the forum who have (or are going to be soon) published. Hopefully they will share here. Were you wondering something specific about it? I noticed you have written some yourself. How have you found the experience to be?

Wow Antipater. You sound very learned. Well done and congratulations.

I've looked around your blogs for a while and hope to return there soon.

It's great to see people witnessing their faith in their writing. I wish you well with your planned book.

In my experience, in the UK, Christian books don't sell so well. I published mine in the US. I had an idea and after a lot of thinking the writing came easy once I got down to it. My first Christian fiction book took me about six months or so to write.

God bless.

I write plays. I won a play writing contest in college and 2 jingle writing contests that were sponsored by a large company (came in 4th and 6th).
Just today, I mailed off one of my plays to a contest. (Biting my nails and hoping for the best at this point...lol)
I don't know about books, but if you're into playwriting all you have to do is send the completed play off to different playhouses (that are accepting submissions) or to any current contest (after reading the requirements for submission).
Hope the best for you if you're currently writing and hoping to publish!

I'm not published yet - BUT I have 2 children that are published. My daughter was first published in a school publication that goes out to the local community when she was in 4th grade, the very next year that same poem was published in a major writing magazine and we've been told that she still holds the record for being the youngest poet, youngest writer that they've ever published. This was when she was 10 and 11. She continues to submit and has won a couple youth poetry contests since then, mostly getting published in online publications. She is currently working on her first novel and is 44 or 45 pages in. She's not quite 14. Right now she looks for chances to earn scholarships for college with her writing ability and there are a lot of them out there!

Her older brother has been published 5 times over in teen literary online magazine and just received notification that they are publishing one of his short stories/flash fiction in their upcoming summer issue and possibly one of his poems as well!

Thanks for allowing a proud mama to brag a little bit!

Blessings,

Garsy

Congratulations Chrystal and Garsyt,

It's great I think when someone tries their skills at writing; whether poetry, plays, fiction or whatever. Especially children, I believe should be encouraged in this.

Best wishes to you Chrystal on the play you've just sent off. And to you and your children too Garsyt. I hope and pray they do well.

I've written a bit; you can find out more from my link below. It's mostly fiction. Although I've also written a book about my life story and my past. Life is changing so fast these days that we should all write something down about our life for our children to cherish and enjoy in years to come.

God bless.

I'm published every day at work.

As for nonwork writing, I do run a blog.. have for several years. I also was published in "Campus Voices." It's just two pages.. but it's a start.

Every time I ask God what he wants me to do with my life he says "write for me" but I'm still trying to figure out what that means. And I'm at the point now where I think I'm not supposed to figure out what it means... but to just do it. Still I'm trying to figure out how to just do it, KWIM?

That's great Reba,

As a Blog writer you can collate some of your best posts and make them into a book. You can put them under different sections - religious/devotional, cooking, crochet etc ...

Some of my E books are just that!

God bless.

They're all devotions pretty much. I started to edit them but like every time I start to... I end up stopping because I'm like 'oh this is awful, I can't let other people read this.' I don't know how to organize them... I think I get so caught up in the "I want to have a definite theme and organization" that I end up not doing anything with 'em. KWIM?

You're probably being too modest.

There's a thread in this Cyber Cafe about Devotionals, (the first thread I think). Try publishing one or two of your devotionals there and see what others think. You may be surprised that others may well like them.

If they're honest and from the heart then they'll be good.

In time, you could collate a few of them into an E Book.

God bless.

Thank you for the encouragement. I may very well do that. I may also include a link to my blog once I get time to write in it more regularly. You can check it out if you so desire (it has a statement of faith per code and conduct): Beyond Surrendered

Do you have a link to your ebooks you've published via Amazon?

Hi Reba,

I have read the post on your Blog about fear and I think it's brilliant. A selection of similar posts can be put together and published as an E Book on Amazon Kindle or through other e publishers. Amazon now allow you to publish on their Kindle platform for FREE and they pay you royalties. I don't know much about other publishers.

I only published once on Amazon Kindle. A book called Golden Drops under my real name Victor S E Moubarak. I really can't get you a link because whenever I try it just does not work. But if you ask Amazon.com for me and the book title you'll find me easily. I also published a paperback "Visions" avalable on Amazon and several e books available FREE from my website.

God bless.

Hein?

Now it appeared magically again. Something must be wrong with my computer. I'll need to change it.

Victor,
Thank you so much for the kind words. I've begun branching out from the verse - explanation - prayer rut I got into. Those devotions are great and I know they serve a purpose but there's something about sharing how God teaches me things through every day experiences that is really rewarding.

I do not have a Kindle yet (my birthday is a few weeks away and I plan on buying one) but as soon as I have one, I will download your book.

I read the description for "Visions" and it sounds really interesting. I just might have to add it to my reading list. :D
