Someone I know who attends a Messianic Jewish Synagogue says it is. I've never heard such.

Thank you for starting this topic. I am interested in the responses. I had a strange "feeling/reaction" to that statement as well.

Wow. Interesting question.... I guess we'll figure it out once we get to heaven, right? :blob8:

We won't have to figure this one out when we get to heaven. It simply is NOT God's "spiritual" language. It is one of three particular languages used in the composition of Scripture, but even there one encounters other languages which lay behind the Hebrew (for instance). Whoever said this was promoting something full of notions of Kabbalistic-like mysticism and nothing more. Hebrew is a language (like ALL languages in use today) which is derivative of others and has shifted, borrowed, created, etc. over time. The beauty of the "language of God" is that He speaks in EVERY language.

I'm not certain I would even understand what God's "spiritual" language would be (and I say this as a person who is Pentecostal). To say it is "spiritual" seems to make it somehow inherently better than others or more pure. That seems more akin to what the Corinthian church did with tongues and to which Paul countered by emphasizing the NEED for intelligibility in speaking to others (whereas "tongues" was for God and would only edify the speaker, but would detract from communication with anyone else).

And I say this as someone who has been (and is and will be) giving my life to the study of Hebrew.

The Hebrew language, a very difficult language for study, is just one of the languages God used to communicate His word. The Bible was also in Aramaic and Greek. I do not think that one language is more spiritual than the other - besides in my opinion Latin sounds very spiritual.

Besides, everyone knows Greek is God's language.

I have heard this claim made several times in the past but I have never heard this someone who could actual speak or read Hebrew.
