I don't feel comfortable posting in "Pastor's Corner" because I'm not a pastor.

How about another subforum titled: "Elder's corner"?

Well I really really like that idea :) it would be wonderful if a volunteer would step forward to act as the Moderator for the new room. If anyone is interested please take a few minutes and click the following links to become a volunteer.

http://bible.org/volunteer

Make sure you indicate the forum and where on the forum on the volunteer form so you can be directed to the right location :)

In the New Testament (never mind for now about Bible based North American churches) pastors (plural) and elders (plural) were essentially different aspects of similar functions.

I like the mention of deacons. However, if we end up with an "elder's corner", a "deacon's corner", and a "board of director's corner", and who knows what, we could have too much fragmentation.

I also appreciate Farouk's comment about the overlap between elders and pastors in the early church. But I do see the pastor's role as more different form the other offices in today's church. Rightly or wrongly.

Maybe we could come up with a name that would gather all the other church offices into one "corner".

I'll think about being a moderator. I'm going through growth in several other areas right now, so I don't want to bite off too much all at once. But I'll keep my mind open about it.

I'm not so sure of that. I've seen several incidents where your treatment of a visitor was better than what I could muster. You may be judging yourself based on the current case which has tried your patience.

With regard to myself, I'm not sure I could always distinguish between what is merely annoying and what is an actual violation of the CofC. I'll bet the moderators help each other.

strider -- thanks

often times the higher "flesh factor" of my replies are based on the amount of sleep i've received or if i am unable to find my sarcasm's off switch

am very content when i allow God to soften my words & share a Passage He's Blessed me with -- wish i were more consistent but will keep trying <shrug>

blocking particular posters has helped too -- am thinking 1 couldn't do that if a moderator

We sure do, we always work as a team and none of us work in a 'vacuum', independent of the group. I rarely do that even as the Administrator, and even then everything is covered with prayer! :)

I like the idea of a Deacon or Elder's corner due to the fact that there are issues for church leadership to handle but like Strider33 I do not go to the Pastor's corner since I am not a pastor.

I can think of several issues which would be nice to discuss - issues are board has dealt with but it would be nice to get outside advice.
For example:
How to handle a pulpit committee?
Choosing a head deacon - election or appointment?
Outside of the Bible what are boards supposed to be doing?
How does the board go about planning pastor appreciation in October?
Should there be term limits for board members (deacons)?
Having ground rules for a carnival on church grounds (smoking areas, what to do about alcoholic beverages)?

Actually I did post a reply in the Pastor's corner at least once, unwittingly. I have a tendency to click "Post reply" without checking to see which forum or subforum the thread is in. Not a good habit.
