Yeah.. I guess Dan had a good point :( I don't want to insult him or create more barriers... he lives very close but I hardly see him because he trys to avoid our family at all costs it seems (even though noone has ever reached out to him about the gospel, only invited him to church with us, since my sister still goes and he is living with her)... to me it is very disrespectful to date someone and not go to church with them (even if they are living in sin). But, yeah... I guess all I can do is pray about it. I ordered the book online. I'll just pray and let God show me whether or not I should give it to him (if not, it still looks like a good book that I would enjoy) but to keep ignoring it and acting like it is ok that he never accepts an invitation to church even if my sister (really it is her duty to convey that this is important to her - but, sigh, it I guess it isn't - AND - she keeps living with him anyway) is going is frustrating. I guess I have a lot of work in letting the Holy Spirit work in me. First to let it tackle my frustration and relinquish control that bringing them to Christ is not something I can do. I hope the Spirit shows me to give him the book but I will be patient and won't unless I see otherwise.

the thing is .... there is not a "one size fits all" approach to evangelism .... for instance

for someone who reads ..... giving a book is a good idea - this would work for me, because I read

it would not work for my daughter, but giving her a video might

and so on .... for some people who have been cornered by "evangelists" before, then taking the time to build a relationship with them may help - as long as you are prepared to love them regardless.

that is why how we live every day is so important - we have to earn the right to speak, that is why Peter in his letter says " be prepared to give an answer to every one ...."

notice, this points to someone asking questions.

Also, I have noticed that some people seem to have what can only be called a "gift of evangelism" ... they can get away with methods that most of us can't, part of it I think is that it comes naturally to them, they do it without thinking about it and because it is so genuine people rarely take offense .... I have a couple of friends like this.

in Christ

Dinah
