The version I use has English and Spanish side by side. It's coordinated on a page by page basis, so that when you turn the page, you are getting the same verses in both languages. But that's it. There are footnotes on the English side. Study guides appear in both languages.

The English translation is NIV. The Spanish translation is Reyna-Valera 1960 (RV60).

American English is my native language. But my Spanish is good enough to enable me to read the entire Bible in Spanish with comprehension that comes close to my comprehension in English. There are even places where the Spanish gives me insights that the English did not.

The Reyna-Valera translation was first made in the 1500s by a Spaniard living in exile in Switzerland. It was brought up to date in 1960. "Reyna" is sometimes written "Reina", which comes closer to the way the common noun would be spelled.

After looking at my Bible, I notice that it's written "Reina-Valera" in the front pages.

So just forget my spelling of "Reyna-Valera". I don't know where I got that from.

Not sure where you got Reyna, either, but it's an archaic spelling of Reina and still commonly used as a personal name.

What is your native language?

My native language is English. I learned Spanish by living in Spanish speaking countries, starting at age six.

Parallel Bibles are very nice since you get to see both languages and how they translate the original languages. I have two parallel Bibles. One has the KJV on one side and the RV 1881 on the other side the other parallel Bible is a NT, which is Greek on one side and Latin on the other.
