The bible states that jesus was tempted. my questions is two fold..1-was jesus tempted in all things as we are tempted? 2- what do you believe was his greatest temptation

Yes, I believe Jesus was tempted in all things. This is how he can personally relate to mankind.
Read Hebrews 2:18
His greatest temptation? When he cried out to The Father to remove this cup; him having to die.

It certainly would have been a strong temptation indeed when Christ prayed to God in Matt. 26:39 "O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless, not as I will but as Thou wilt", as he knew he had the power to call 10,000 legions of angels, but he didn't do it. Also in Matt 27: 40-43, they mocked Jesus and said "IF" thou be the Son of God" come down from the cross. It must have been very tempting to prove to the people that he was indeed the Son of God.

Perhaps it was even when Jesus was tempted by Satan on the mountain. Satan tempted him telling him "IF" ye be the son of God".... as that was not only a temptation, but also questioning his authority and authenticity of his own being if he was indeed actually the son of God. We are all tempted in common things, as Satan tempted Christ in all things as us, (the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye, the pride of life), but to be questioned if Christ was even the son of God went beyond just a temptation. Satan wanted to make Christ question who he was and prove it. We know that Christ did not doubt that he was the Son of God, ever, but it must have been a hard thing for Christ, as I'm sure he wanted to "prove" who he was, and he could have proved it, but He knew in his heart that he was indeed the Son of God and didn't need to prove it to Satan. As a matter of fact, Christ already knew that Satan knew that Jesus was indeed the Son of God. We too when we are tempted, must take good courage to remember that Satan already knows too well that we are God's children, and he is trying to seduce us back into the world away from God.
