I am very eager in getting help in understanding what Exodus 32:31-35 means to Christianity. If on several occassions it says in the OT that each individual is responsible for their own sins, why does the Christian faith agree that Jesus died for our sins and this is the main thing that defines Christians? Also in the OT that God detests the sacrificing of a human being. I sincerely am asking for clarity with these scriptures. If these statements weren't true surely they would have been mentioned in the Gospels right--especially since they are apart of the foundation/definition of Christianity? Did I miss something in my study? Please forgive me if this question has already been raised. I'm new to these boards and if my questions have already been answered I sure would not mind going to the forum where it is located and reading the responses.

Specific scriptures that I hope to get a Christian response on:
Exodus 32:31-35
Deuteronomy 12:30-31

Exodus: " the confession and intercession " Moses said to the people , "you have committed a great sin. but now I will go up to the Lord ; perhaps I can make atonement for your sin."
Psalm 69:28 The book: the names of the living were inscribed in the divine register.
Removal of the name ment forfeiture of life .Psalms 139:16

In the New Testament the figure is applied to the life to come Luke 10:20; Philippians 4:3

Deteronomy: the sin of idolatry---the worship of God is to be different from that to the gods of Canaan----while there is a great deal to be said for viewing the rituals of other religions with sympathetic insight, God's people in all ages have created appalling problems for them selfs and distorted their own faith by incorporatiing alian practices and concepts.
For child sacrifice to Molech see Leviticus 18:21 Jeremiah 7:31
In the Old Testament attention is focused on serving God in this life---a very different attitude from most religions.

The Law was given to Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ John 1:17
Advocacy is that work of Jesus Christ 1John 2:1-2---Moses made intercession for Israel Deuteronomy 9:19-21

Jesus Christ's sacrifice once for all Hebrews 10:4-18 Scripture says "my righteous one will live by faith....and if he shrinks back I will not be pleased with him."
Old Testament is there for our excample to learn from.

Jesus fullfiled what Moses or the law could not do, take away sin.

Thanks cw-nf! I also found my answer in Isaiah 53:12. To my understanding this verse holds alot of weight, it's one of the verses where Christianity derives from and where Jewish and Christian interpretation differ.
