Hi Lyn, and welcome!

I sometimes refer to God as the One who made all things--the sun, the moon, the whole world--and who gives life to each one of us.

Depending upon the context, I may also talk about how He first made people to be like Him--to be pure and good, to be his children--but we disobeyed Him and lost our way. That is why people now do bad things. And that is why death came into the world. But the One who made us still loves us. He still wants us to be his children, to be like Him, to know Him, and to live forever with Him in his kingdom. And in order to make all of that possible, He sent his Son, Jesus, into the world.

Jesus came to show us how much He and his Father love us. Jesus came to die for us so that we could live for Him. He died on a cross to pay for all the bad things we have done so that we could be forgiven--so that He and his Father would not have to punish us for the bad things we have done. He died in our place, but that's not all. After three days, He rose to life again. Death could not hold onto Him because He is like his Father and He lives forever.

Now Jesus is back with his Father in heaven, waiting for the day when He will come back into the world. And He is asking us to love Him because He loves us. He is asking us to believe the good news that He died for us and lives again. He is asking us to trust in Him and what He did for us. And He is asking us to live for Him because He died for us.

I think you have to show them God's love first.

what age are the children?

God sends many people into our lives, some for a moment, others, for months or even years.

Just a thought
Quote:
A story I just finished reading might help to make the point that you want to make.
A young boy named Jeremy was born with a twisted body and a slow mind.
At the age of 12 he was still in the second grade.
He needed to be in a special school, but there weren't any nearby.
Because he was diagnosed as terminally ill and seemed relatively happy in the regular school program, he was allowed to continue.
Spring came, and all the children were talking excitedly about the coming Easter.
To teach the idea of new life and the comming of spring, Jeremy's teacher gave each of the students a plastic egg.
She said, "Now I want you to take this home and bring it back tommorow with something inside that shows new life.
Do you understand?"
"Yes Miss Miller!" the children responded---that is, all the children except Jeremy.
He didn't say a word. He just stared at the teacher, then stared at his egg.
The next morning all nineteen children came to school, laughing and talking as they placed their egg in the large basket on top of Miss Miller's desk.
When their math leason was over, it was time to open the eggs.
In the first egg, the teacher found a flower.
She said, "Oh, good! A flower is certainly a sighn of new life! When plants peek through the ground, we know that the new life of spring is here.
A small girl in the front row waved her arm. "That's my egg, Miss Miller!" Then the teacher opned the other eggs.
She found butterflies, a rock with moss on it, and several other objects that represented new life to those young minds.
Then the teacher opned an egg that was empty.
She knew it was Jeremy's but she didn't want to embarrase him. She quickly placed the egg to the side and went on opening the others.
Suddenly Jeremy said, "Miss Miller aren't you going to talk about my egg?"
Flustered, she said, "But Jeremy, your egg was empty."
He looked into her eyes and said softly, " Yes, but Jesus' tomb was empty too." "Oh yes, Miss Miller, I know why, Jesus was killed and put in there.
Then the Father raised him up!"
Three months later, Jeremy died. Those who paid there respects at the mortury saw an interesting sight: nineteen plastic eggs laid on top of his casket, all of them empty.
God bless,
