Hi everyone! As you can see from my signature, I've moved from the forums at Crosswalk--a place that was home to me for over ten years and where the "family" there walked with me through many try times (not in any order): a difficult marriage; facing same-sex attraction (ssa) in myself for the first time, and for one person in particular; the suicide of a son; leaving a church of 25 years and the trials of finding the right place to settle (I've found it); and so many other things I can't remember. There has been a lot of laughter and a lot of tears; many friendships--some continuing and some lost; a chance to see a wider perspective on life, living and spiritual matters; mentors who have helped me grow and people who have been encouragers; others whose lives I could impact for good. I came to know myself better through my time there and consider myself very blessed for the role CW has played in my life. But life moves on and CW has moved to a place where conversations can't be as open, honest or anonymous.

I'm very grateful for the open door bible.org has created for us (do you have a shorthand for the site, like we use "CW" for "Crosswalk" or do you type out "bible.org" each time you refer to it? It's going to take time to get used it a new place but it seems comfortable here.

I've been married for nearly 38 years--anniversary is in December--and had four sons until the third one died nearly two years ago. The remaining sons are ages 31, 29 and 25. The youngest is following God and is married, moving in a week to South-east Asia. The older two are not following God and live together, with their girlfriends and another friend while pursuing post-grad studies in Toronto. Although he could retire, my husband (who I'll call "dh" for "dear husband" though I don't always find him dear) continues to work in a managerial position. He's taken the death of our son very hard and work is something that gives him purpose, affirmation and a way to fill his days.

I was a stay-at-home mom while the kids were growing up. I went back to work for six years, working as a clerk substitute in the school system. I loved it but the depression I was (and am) battling made it difficult to continue and, on the advice of my psychiatrist, I had to quit. The death of our son hasn't helped matters in that department and while I strive to increase my ability to function, there are many days where I simply can't.

But God is good and I'm so grateful for his presence in my life. He is my one passion and focus in life (though I often get side-tracked) and my purpose and goal is to serve him and bring him honour.

I for one never really thought about it before. B/O :drunken: really doesn't work now does it? I'm not so sure "Borg" does either. (Although it does seem that many are being assimilated  )

Hmmmnnn...something to consider! :alien:

Hisjoy  I've been a member at CW for half a dozen years or so, but there's only a few threads/boards I post at anymore.

Hi Danas_mom, Joy, Randy and Molly! I'm hoping more of those I chatted with regularly at CW will find their way here eventually. I put a link to this thread in my CW signature (that's allowed there) so we'll see if it helps.

Danas_mom, I know I've seen you around but I don't think I know you. Do you have an introduction to yourself somewhere in this folder? Or would you be willing to introduce yourself to us/me in this thread?

I think I know the rest of you except for Randy. I was going to ask you how long you've been here at "Borg" but then I remembered I could look at the sidebar. Would you be willing to share a little about who you are? Those are interesting shortcuts you've come up with, by the way! I find "Borg" amusing and more positive than BO, lol! You have great emoticons and I like the way are more accessible when one is posting a reply--like the colours at the side. It took me a while to figure out the subscription system but I think I have it now, and created a button on my bookmarks bar so I have easy access. I guess I'll soon be removing the one for CW. :(

My sleep is all messed up so I got only 4 1/2 hours of sleep last night--this morning, really--so I'm tired. I should be going for a walk and doing my exercises (my doctor sent me to an athletic therapist to help me lose weight) but I don't know that I can muster the energy to do so--though it is a gorgeous fall day out there. Maybe I should at least try the walk. Maybe that will motivate me to do at least some of the exercises. I'd rather just sleep but with it being nearly 3:00 p.m., that would wreck my sleep for tonight again. Grrrrr!

Hi 4gvn! Is that the handle you had at CW? Would you share a little about yourself? I don't think I've ever seen you before. Of course, I didn't wander too much in the last few years--mostly stuck to the PFY threads (and only a few of those) and the chat thread in Community Lounge.

Good to see you made the move over, Edith!

I'm supposed to be doing set 2 of my exercises--sitting at the computer was supposed to be just a break; I guess I'd better get back at them before I do any more reading here (I'd rather read here than face that exercise mat glaring at me from the floor, but alas, I face the therapist this afternoon and I've missed three days already this week. Ugh!)
