We use macs exclusively at my Church. I definitely prefer them to Windows machines. The hardware is almost always better quality, and the OS is more user friendly. ProPresenter - http://www.renewedvision.com/propresenter.php - is the app I've seen for presentation software (it also has a windows version, I don't know anything about that).

You can plug the mac in, via an adapter, to the DVI input on your projector.

You would also want to buy Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint equivalents. Only they're about $20 each! :)

I've worked at, and support windows and Mac networks, and macs are much easier, esp. for a mobile setup where you'll be getting on different networks most likely!

Let me know if you have any questions!

Removed quote of the entire immediately preceding post as redundant.

You could get the computer for that much, but the software will be extra.

PCs are a LOT cheaper. Also, when a guest speaker gives you a PowerPoint, the PC is going to be 100% compatible. Speaking at various churches I often have trouble with my PowerPoint files not reading on a Mac. Mac people will tell you how compatible they are, but that has not been my experience.
