Hello, everyone. I would like to hear from those who use responsive liturgy in their worship services - Calls to Worship; Responsive Readings that are praise or prayer oriented, and etceteras.

I know that many here on the forum don't "do" these things a lot, but, if there's even one here who does, I would like to talk with you. I want to have and use some from time to time.

Thanks in advance!

Jim

As you may or may not know, most of the Anglican service is call-and-response. You could look at the Common Book of Prayer for inspiration.

PBob,

I have long suspected that you are a Lutheran in denial!

I attended a Lutheran service this last Easter. Very liturgical and, I suppose, "call and response." As an ex Catholic I felt at home. Great music-- Cello, keyboard and hand bells. Traditional hymns...

I'm waiting before reattending at this time. The pastoress is EULA and has just resigned, apparently because of the congregation's problems with liberalism. Communion was very cool. You walked to the altar and they gave you a choice between wine (red) or grape juice (white). The little plastic cups were a disapointment. I'm used to the communal gold chalice where the congregation picks up all the diseases together...

I think you would have liked it. I plan on attending after the coup is over....

Jim,

In my house church sometimes our services are 'free' (that's a technical word) and sometimes we use a liturgy we create or borrow from somewhere.

I have to prepare services as part of my chaplaincy course and we have used this; and one of our members leads us in lectio divina from time to time.

I do them on the PC and could send you some if you are interested.
I used to be in a Baptist Church. One of members is a Baptist Pastor.

As a reminder - if you are currently serving is a pastoral capacity - take some time to join the "Those Twice Called" usergroup - this will enable you to share files within the forum and grant you access to the special access forum :)

Thanks for that. I have applied to join.

 Long time no see 'dipity! I'm close to Lutheranism. I just can't quite make the plunge due to the whole "real presence" and "in, through and under" bit. That's why I'm pining for a traditional, 39-Articles-type Anglican church.

???

For some reason, I thought the "Twice Called" forum was for bi-vocational people.

Here is the description of Those Twice Called:
from the index
Quote:
A Private Forum For those who are a part of the leadership of the local church. This includes, Pastors, Assistant Pastors, Children's Pastors etc.

It was set up/designed to provide a private place for pastors to discuss more sensitive issues that come with being in a role of leadership within the church. Not necessarily for bi-vocational pastors. Being called twice means that while we are all called to be children of God, there are others who are "twice called" to feed the sheep :) hope this helps.

Thanks to all who posted. I was at a local Christian bookstore today, and found a copy of the Abingdon Preaching Annual. It's got just what I'm looking for.
