Quote:
Titus 2:3-5
3 Older women likewise are to exhibit behavior fitting for those who are holy, not slandering, not slaves to excessive drinking, but teaching what is good. 4 In this way they will train the younger women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be self-controlled, pure, fulfilling their duties at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the message of God may not be discredited. Welcome to the Women's Discussion Room.

Here is the place that we women can come to share our joys and sorrows, triumphs and failures, and the knowledge we have gained as we walk with the Lord. It is also the place where we safely ask questions concerning anything that pertains to our walk so that we may continue to grow.

It is my prayer that those of us who are older (at least in our faith) will be able to assist those of us who are a little younger and share our experiences. Although it is good to learn by making our own mistakes sometimes it is better to learn from someone who has "been there, done that".

With Bible.org's launch of it's new Women's Ministry Super Category I see an increase in the number of Women here at our forums. Please continue to keep this forum and Bible.org in your prayers as we reach the world for Christ.

If you are not already a member of our Women's Forums you will not be able to access the private area for more personal women's discussion. To participate in these forums you will need to join the "Women's Discussion Group" via your User Control Panel, simply select the group and click submit.

Please feel free to start a thread or join in the discussions that are already in place. If you have any suggestions, comments, or problems please do not hesitate to let me know. Feel free to either send me a pm or an e-mail. If you send an e-mail just put "Women's Forum" in the subject line this will prevent it from going to my bulk mail folder!

You may also contact our Women's Ministry Moderator "dcljoy" if you need any assistance.

Any gentlemen while we appreciate the fact that you want to help when reading items in this public area of the garden we would like to request that you please stay on the path and out of the flowers and vegetables. If you have something to add that you think would be beneficial please send a note to Dinah (dcljoy) and she'll think about it. Thanks for your understanding.

Before we get to the N's: dont forget Merab and Michal, King Saul's daughters!
Merab 1 Samuel 14:49 and 1 Samuel 18:17-19. King Saul tried to give her to David for a wife, and she was rejected! How would that make YOU feel?
Michal married David, and saved his life, then was given to someone else to be married to after David ran away. How long was David gone? Years?
Can you imagine being forced to be someone elses wife, knowing you were married to another?
Makes you glad your living now and not back then, huh!?
Then Michal was scornful of David. But can we really blame her for being critical of him after he left her to the mercies of her crazy father and to be used by another? At one time, she loved David. I would imagine that her love died the day she was given to that other man! Even though David restored her to her place as his wife, it would be hard not to be bitter. I feel sorry for her.

No kidding! And don't forget, Michal wasn't his only wife! I don't think I could/would be very 'happy' about that... I might be a bit bitter for that fact alone!

And women think they have it hard today!

Ok... did this stop or are we going on to the letter "N"?

How about Naomi? I love that name... but I love how she was with Ruth! I see her as a picture of the aged women teaching the younger!!!

I've always liked the name too. However, during a recent family spiral, I recalled she said "Don't call me Naomi, call me 'Mara'". I think it means bitter. In my heart I renamed myself 'Mara'.

Fortunately, God has helped me and I'm better!

Time we re-opened this topic I think. Where are all the ladies these days?

ORPAH, daughter-in-law of Naomi
Ruth 1:4, 14. 4 So her sons married Moabite women. (One was named Orpah and the other Ruth.) And they continued to live there about ten years. 14 Again they wept loudly. Then Orpah kissed her mother-in-law goodbye, but Ruth clung tightly to her. Context (NET)

Peninnah
Meaning: coral

one of the two wives of Elkanah (1 Samuel 1:2-7)

The other wife was Hannah, who bore no children for many years. Peninnah was cruel to Hannah and “provoked her sore” about her inability to have children. Hannah prayed earnestly to God for a son whom she promised to return to Him to serve Him for his whole life. God heard and answered and Hannah bore Samuel who became a great priest of Israel.
