Greetings in the name of the Lord.

As the site Administrator for the social networking pages of bible.org (users and the forum) I wanted to take a minute to address all our users on both sites concerning the events reported on May 1, 2011.

President Obama addressed the nation and the world as he announced the death of Osama Bin Laden last night. Whatever your position politically or religiously please do not use any of these platforms to promote hate speech of any kind. While we understand that this is a very hot topic we will not permit our sites to be used in a way that would dishonor Christ. Feel free to discuss the news but choose your words carefullyand prayerfully.

As Christians we should mourn the death of any soul who is lost forever.

I leave you with this

Romans 13:1-7 1 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except by God’s appointment, and the authorities that exist have been instituted by God. 2 So the person who resists such authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will incur judgment 3 (for rulers cause no fear for good conduct but for bad). Do you desire not to fear authority? Do good and you will receive its commendation, 4 for it is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be in fear, for it does not bear the sword in vain. It is God’s servant to administer retribution on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of the wrath of the authorities but also because of your conscience. 6 For this reason you also pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants devoted to governing. 7 Pay everyone what is owed: taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due. Context (NET)

Ezek 18:23 23 Do I actually delight in the death of the wicked, declares the sovereign Lord? Do I not prefer that he turn from his wicked conduct and live? Context (NET)

and remember that all things work together for good for those that love the Lord!

Jennifer:

I appreciate your sensitivity on this issue. It's true that the death of an evil man is sad. Like God, I would rather bin Laden had repented and found mercy and forgiveness in Christ than dying in his sins.

Nonetheless, the elimination of this wicked man from the face of the earth is a good thing, and we as Christians ought to be pleased.

As Revelation 18:20 commands concerning the fall of mystery Babylon:
Quote:
Celebrate over her, O heaven, and you saints and apostles and prophets, because God has pronounced judgment for you against her!

I, for one, celebrate the death of bin Laden, while solemnly recognizing that, apart from God's marvelous grace, I'm no more deserving of heaven than he is.
