We have long had requests from you, our forum users, to make a community site where responsible registered users could share their original works.
This requirement along with my obversation that churches are losing the "relationship war" with the hearts and minds of our young people as they are building relationships on facebook, twitter and the secular social networks of the day not into a caring Christian enviroment which we used to call "the Church". I have concluded that the bible.org web savvy community (you and me) should do something about it. I believe that if we build on the community you have established and nurtured here on the forum and we take the resources and skillset we have on the http://www.bible.org
site and open that up we could provide a set of services within the bible.org framework that is safe and nurturing to families and churches across the globe.
What am I saying In short: I think that if we provide a rich interactive environment where people can share material they use in their ministry with others that together we can help each other be successful in our personal ministries and in building our relationship with Christ and one-another. IF
we are successful in building community here between the forum and bible.org , http://netbible.org
we should be able to take the lessons learned and help churches across the world build community so they can reach their communities with the Gospel of Christ.
With that as introduction what is this forum about...
Right now the site is only about 1 week old and it is not ready for "prime Time" but it is probably ready for some brave testors, to play with and figure out how to use it in their ministries... The first question is what is it and what can I do with it? How will it serve my needs?
Phase one is simple...
it is a clone of the bible.org site with some similarities and several important differences...Similarities
1- user accounts are the same.. if you have an account on http://www.bible.org you have an account on usersDifferences
2- the key word and biblical topic terms are the same
1- IT SUPPORTS GROUPS (private and public) anyone can make a group.. do u want a group for your sunday school? for your club? all supported
2- anyone can blog
*Note: At this time the forum login is still separate and different from the bible.org and users.bible.org log in*
All the above are there but we dont have documentation or screen casts to show people how to use them..
We need helpers, to help us get it ready for a operational test and evaluation.RIGHT NOW IT IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION AND IF YOU USE IT OPERATIONALLY IT MAY CRASH AND WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO RECOVER YOUR DATA.
So if you join us and use it for your SS School we will try to keep it stable but we suggest you keep local copies of any material you commit to it as it us under construction.
This forum will be used for users to help other users. The bible.org developers will monitor it but the formal way to submit a trouble ticket is to click the links on the bottome of the page and give us the problem or feedback ofr new feature requests.. IF YOU PLAN ON BEING A REGULAR TESTER PLEASE REGISTER AS A VOLUNTEER BY READING http://bible.org
AND FILLING OUT THE FORM AT #7 Volunteer Opportunities
