The Bible NETwork Blog is a place where the staff of our bible.org  forums can open their hearts and share what is on their minds,  in matters of faith, life and generally whatever happens to strike them at the moment.

We are a diverse group which differs in many ways, ways that are not that important. We also have important things in common. One important thing we have in common is our love for Jesus and for you. We hope when you visit that you are blessed by the important things and sometimes amused by the unimportant. May God grant us all the wisdom to recognize which is which.

Human 'doings' vs human 'beings'

This quote from Dallas Willard expresses a very important truth.   Some time ago I wrote this, when I was struggling with the emphasis on 'doing' ....  and the lack of interest in 'being' .... and the really sad thing of not being able to see that one necessarily flows from the other ... what we do flows out of what we are ... from the heart!

How do you handle it when you pray for something that is important to you and God says, “No”? He has been saying no to my request for physical healing for over 20 years and, while I would like to say I receive that answer graciously all the time, the reality is that sometimes I don’t. Sometimes I’m still hurt and angry that I continue to live with disability and pain.

Maybe you've heard of LIFE CHAIN. Maybe not. If you live in the United States, chances are you've seen it. If you know the Lord Jesus Christ and value the sanctity of human life made in the image of God, you have surely applauded the LIFE CHAIN you may have witnessed.

The End of Marriage?

California's state constitution gives voters the ability to directly make laws when their legislature fails to act in the people's interests. The process involves drafting a proposed law, called a Proposition, and then obtaining enough eligible voters' signatures to put the Proposition on the next election ballot. When the election is held, every eligible voter then has the privilege of voting for or against the new law.

An Act of Courage

Every once in awhile I get out one of my favourite old movies and re-watch it for the umpteenth time. It’s like visiting with an old friend. Last week, it was a Western that I consider one of the best of the genre – The Big Country. A dude from the East played by Gregory Peck goes west to get married. He doesn’t do things according to the code of that rough society and gets labeled a coward. In the end, he shows he has more courage than all his critics rolled together.

What are you reading?

What are you reading? I would hope all Christians would respond with a biblical reference ...  but also, a variety of other interesting titles.

I am reading Mark's gospel - too slowly and spasmodically - and I am about to start Dragonspell by Donita K Paul.

My Life as a Baseball Game

My life is so much like a baseball game. I’m the pitcher. Jesus Christ is my catcher. And the batter? He’s any problem, challenge or decision I have to face.
