She called herself “Queen of the Dark Chamber”. Born early in the twentieth-century to a wealthy Buddhist family in China, Christiana Tsai grew up hating Christianity.   But she wanted to learn English and a Christian school gave her the opportunity to study the language. There she gave her heart to Jesus. Later, she was to say, “God used my love of English to draw me to Himself.”  

 Our concern is the Word of life whom we have “seen with our eyes … and touched with our hands” (1 John 1:1 my own free translation).

Opponents of California's Proposition 8, which would define marriage as being between a man and a woman, have been running a televised ad featuring California Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O'Connell. In the ad O'Connell claims that Prop 8 has nothing to do with education and that public schools will not be required to teach same-sex marriage to our children if the measure fails.

In the movie, The Man with Two Brains, the title character, played by Steve Martin, stands in front of a fireplace with a painting of his deceased wife above it. He wants to remarry, but is afraid his first wife would not approve. He speaks with the hope she can hear him, saying, “If you do not want me to marry this woman, give me a sign.” At that moment, a mighty wind arises, practically blowing him off his feet. His wife’s picture spins wildly around and around and around. We hear the violent shout of “No!” Finally, the

Today is a sad day in Canada. Today is the day that the Governor-General gives the country’s highest award of honour to a man responsible for the death of millions. 

October is Pastor Appreciation Month—that time of year when we, as church families, have a special opportunity to express our appreciation, love and gratitude for those who devote their lives in God's service to caring for his people.
