John Stott retired from public ministry in July 2007 at the age of 87. His last address before doing so was Our Christian task: becoming like Jesus. A life lived long for God brings a certain clarity of perspective, and here Dr. Stott shares God's primary objective for us.

When in the course of my career I dealt with questions of federal and state law, rightly understanding and applying the law was rarely as easy as looking at one line, or even one section of legal code. One needed to consider all of the other relevant code sections, and perhaps regulations and court decisions as well. Sometimes sections of the law were in apparent conflict with one another, and I had to determine which section(s) took priority. Sometimes a law would apply only if a certain test had been met or if another law didn't apply.

To become a teacher, one must first become a student. We can only teach what we ourselves have learned. But to become a teacher in Christ, you must first be more than a student of the Bible. You must be a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Ten years ago (1998) David Wilkerson wrote a book entitled America's Last Call. It was a prophetic warning to the United States of America, calling the nation to repentance. In it he wrote, "America is receiving her last call to repent!"

Opponents of California's Proposition 8, which would define marriage as being between a man and a woman, have been running a televised ad featuring California Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O'Connell. In the ad O'Connell claims that Prop 8 has nothing to do with education and that public schools will not be required to teach same-sex marriage to our children if the measure fails.

Maybe you've heard of LIFE CHAIN. Maybe not. If you live in the United States, chances are you've seen it. If you know the Lord Jesus Christ and value the sanctity of human life made in the image of God, you have surely applauded the LIFE CHAIN you may have witnessed.

Stewardship—it's a concept that the Lord continually brings me back to. I suppose that's because our stewardship is such a fundamental aspect of our service to God. In fact, all of our service to him is really a matter of stewardship.
