The forum has a Code of Conduct. The staff at the Forum is in the process of reviewing and studying our Code of Conduct so that we can be as clear as possible. Once we have looked at each item we will be re-organizing each item so that it is easier to follow and understand.
Over the next few entries I wanted to take some time to go through each item that we have listed in our forums Code of Conduct and share with everyone the reasoning behind each item in the hopes that it will help our members better understand why we have a Code of Conduct in the first place.
To start let's define a few words.
Forum:
- the marketplace or public square of an ancient Roman city, the center of judicial and business affairs and a place of assembly for the people.
- a court or tribunal: the forum of public opinion.
- an assembly, meeting place, television program, etc., for the discussion of questions of public interest.
Discussion:
- an act or instance of discussing; consideration or examination by argument, comment, etc., esp. to explore solutions; informal debate.
When we talk about a Discussion Forum using the internet we are of course referring to a place where Christians can log on and ask questions, help with answers, and just get to known one another. The topics can vary from the very basics of Christianity to deep philisophical and theology discussions as well as sharing our favorite recipes for that special meal.
In any type of environment when people are gathered to discuss items on which there may be differences of opinions a set of guidelines must be established in order so that these discussions are conducted in a way in which all participants come away with greater understanding of anothers position. More specifically guideliness must be established so that purpose of the discussions is upheld.
The Bible NETwork was designed to meet a variety of needs in the international Christian community and to serve as a lighthouse of the grace and truth of God found in Jesus Christ as revealed through the Holy Bible. When peopl visit us we want them to be built up in the grace and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ by the time they leave. We desire help one-another in evangelism and the Christian maturing process, so we all will finish the task that Christ expects us to accomplish here on earth.
Now our Code of Conduct didn't just pop into existance. We did not sit down one day and decide to make up rules just because we could. Over the past 4 years or so since the forum was created we devloped guidelines for conduct based upon a number of different factors. We used the scripture, content that was being provided by our members as well as a bit of common sense.
I will take the next few weeks and go through each item that we have listed in our Code of Conduct and provide greater insight in why we choose to add that particular item. Whether you are a current member of our forums or just visiting I pray that this information that is provided will show you into the heart of the staff.
From the Administrators Desk....this is Jennifer saying God Bless!
Can we add something about claiming angelic or deific ability? Not to mention those who come implying they are the mouthpiece(s) of God.
